Let’s just breeze past the fact that I was the very last kid in Year 4 to get a pen license. Yep, this writer was once blessed with the nickname “chubby gumby fingers” (childhood can be brutal, right?). No, of course it hasn’t stuck with me for the last thirty years… every time I type or scribble, I definitely don’t hear it echoing in my head. But you know what? These so-called “chubby gumby fingers” have turned out to be pretty handy — they help me tell stories.
